Harvey Nicolas (Competitor)

Harvey Nichols was founded in 1831, it is a luxury department store chain with a flagship store in Knightsbridge, London. This sells international fashion collection fro men and women, fashion accessories, beauty products, wine and food which is why this is considered to be a direct competitor for Selfridges. Harvey Nichols is also famed for their aware winning restaurants, bars and brasseries which is what makes profit for the brand and has allowed them to become more established and known.
As they provide consumers with every facility it makes it very hard for them to want to go elsewhere. However, with Harvey Nichols focusing upon the restaurant and bars area this will allow a gap in the market for Selfridges to openly grab with open arms and allow this to take off. Although a competitor for selling the same product lines and being a luxury goods department store, they already have so much going on in their stores which leads me to think they will not pose as a threat to my new service in which I am providing.
The style that the brand takes is very stripped back and basic allowing the brand to speak for itself, with the focus upon the grey scaled colours, the consumers immediately know and understand the brands style, the brands image and also their positioning within the market. As they are clinically presented this allowed the product areas to speak loud volumes which makes the brand so successful to-date. The use of the off scaled squares is a common trait for the brand. This is similar to how Selfridges works as they are known for the use of the colours yellow and black and as soon as these two colours are placed together you immediately think of the brand.

Harvey Nicohls and Selfridges target the same aged consumer ranging from 18=50, which means that there could be a chance, if the job is presented properly that they will then expand their knowledge and shop there for the flowers which would allow the consumers to unite brining more to the Selfridges stores.

Harvey Nichols are on top of their game with their social media posting on twitter and facebook along with instagram when they feel that the time is right to do so, as a Selfridges but this could be pushed more. With the age range being a new consumer this is something that I will then work on and push towards to allow the new innovative area to be advertised In the right manner and allow this to become a huge success and could may well take off and happen in the future.

There are a lot of tips I will take from Harvey Nichols and these include;
Being ontop of social media
Allowing yourself to stand out
Push for something as much as possible

Try and allow the logo to stand for something

As this is so, i will now move onto the next one, this was a really short analysis as this is pretty similar and works in a similar way to Selfridges, they promote the same, they target the same consumers, they hold that luxury feel and sense of touch and they allow the consumer to stand back and take all of this in not bombarding them which is something I need to remember as i want to try and allow as many consumers to enjoy this service as possible. I do not want to push for this to happen, i would like this to happen naturally.
