When
carrying out research looking into floral trends and floristry to-date it was
evident that this is highly on trend and is rapidly increasing within society
becoming available on mass scale whether this be in store and online. The use
of floral prints and floral designs are growing within the population and are
becoming evident within product areas.
An
article from WGSN from Early 2013 can prove how this has become a key trend.
• While
the interiors market this month is predominately populated by neutral solid
tones, a vast array of eye-catching large-scale floral motifs are noted across
the colour spectrum
• Pretty
embroidered versions are seen in both muted and bright shades for furniture and
soft furnishings, while bold patterns and sculptural ceramics stand out for
small kitchen appliances and crockery
• Watercolour
morning glory and carnation flowers add a delicate touch to decorative cushions
and bed linen, ornamental burgundy blossoms look striking on oversized,
upholstered mirrors and monochromatic graphics have a lovely hand-drawn
quality
As bold patterning builds in importance for fashion apparel we
see this confident use of florals resonating with consumers for the
spring/summer
With this being so, it is clear that I have chosen to promote
the right product area with this being on the increase. This will allow me to
target the market at the right time which will hopefully allow this idea to be
success and bring profit to the brand of Selfridges.
