Fashion advertising and Promotion Book Notes - Jay and Ellen Diamond

This book looks at promoting fashion houses, product lines and designers showing how they have a unique set of skills and strategies and showcase this through to their brands. This book indicates the details the advertising methods and the attention- getting promotions and events used by the fashion designers, manufactures, retailers and associated professionals in the glamorous, yet highly competitive business.
Although this is not a fashion line, Selfridges as a brand does intact have fashion lines and designer detailing which Is the reason behind looking into this source. I wanted to try and see if this book could given myself any pointers in the new direction for the product area of Flowers.

The keys points that I got from this book include;

PAGE 4: "The goals of fashion advertising and promotion, of course, is to bring prominence to a particular company, and to increase it's chances of professionals that include copywriters, artists, photographers, layouts designers, visual merchandisers, fashion show directors and managerial executives, as well as budgets that allow them to translate their thoughts into distinguished presentations."

PAGE 5: " The power of advertising is such that it can quickly and succinctly deliver messages to specifically targeted groups anywhere in the world"
This shows the power that advertising really has and people do  not realise this. This means that I need to ensure that my advertising methods are successfully designed and target the right consumers.

PAGE 47: "In addition to their advertising commitments, retailers use a variety of promotional techniques to attracts customers to their stores. The range is significant, as are the expenses involved in these undertakings."

"Personal appearance also have proven to be successful with many retailers."

PAGE 243: " Principles of design. The rules that govern design include balances, emphasis, proportion, contrast, harmony and sequence. White space and layout preparation are also key"

Similar to the last book, this was abit to technical and too in depth but I was able to gather a few key points from this. This focused more so on clothing tips which is not what I needed to look into.
