Initial Campaign Ideas

With this brief being so open range you are literally allowed to produce anything you want to which makes this so enjoyable and so interesting to carry out. With this being my final campaign I wanted to get a heads start with this straight away so that I kind of knew which sort of area it is that I am going to be working with and creating a whole new product or service for. As this is so, I sat down and made a list of all of the key ideas that came to my head that I found could be extremely beneficial to the brand and also to the consumer too.
When making my initial ideas list I wanted to ensure that this was unique enough and was something that the brand could possibly later introduce.

Some of the ideas I came up with are:
Flower Service for Selfridges
Augmented Reality app for Mac Make-up (sort of like a virtual mirror)
Pandora Fragrance
Lush organic range of health supplements
Customized Ray Ban glasses
Topshop perfume range
Yankee scented stationary
Pandora clothing accessories
Paper chase vending machine for stationary
Lynx for women
Batiste dry shampoo for men
Apple watch
Nasty Gal launch in the UK
Missguided pop up stall

I believe that all of these ideas are possible and could actually happen in the real work. With the brands chosen I have tried to keep this as minimal as possible for the lower ended brands and for the likes of apple we all know they would be able to have a bigger budget. This all depends on how recognized and how popular they are.

With these I now need to sit down and have a think about which products and which services are the most realistic and which will bring the brand/company the most profit. I will have a think about this for a week or so and try and gather general research during the mean time to try and help direct me to my preferred idea.

Week 1 Timelog

With this being the first week for the briefing of the project I now intend on looking back at the proposal ideas in which I submitted previously and see whether I am going to pursue with one of those concepts or change my idea completely. This will then allow myself to come up with a variety of different thoughts that spring to mind. This will not be limited I will look into both services and also products to allow more ideas to stem from this hopefully selective a professional and strong idea which will have a lengthy campaign behind it.

My aim for this week is to have my list of my initial ideas finalized and to then begin picking ideas that have more depth and seem to be more realistic for the chosen brand/company.
Once this has been carried out and I have a list of preferred ideas I will then have a think for over a week looking into the ideas individually and trying to select one, not only one that I will enjoy, but the one that stands out to be the most beneficial. This is where I will need to consider research into the consumers, promotion, budgets, costing and also consider the 5 It’s (see it, feel it, get it, do it and share it) and briefly determine whether this will be a success or not.

With this being so, I will now begin by taking the time to make a mind map of ideas which I will type up and insert it onto this blog. I am not going to limit myself so this could be lengthy but it is going to be a note for everything that comes to mind. The five ideas that I have handed in previously will also be added to this list along with new areas of focus.

Previous Proposal Ideas

During the last project we were required to think of proposed ideas for this project knowing this was going to be set during sometime in Jaunuary.

As this was so, over the Christmas period it was then when I came up with five initial ideas which included:
  • Lynx for women
  • Batiste dry shampoo for men
  • An apple watch
  • Missguided pop up stall
  • Nasty Gal launching in the UK

Lynx for women

With this idea, I suggested that it would coincide with the men’s deodorant of Lynx which would give a totally different spin on the fragranced deodorant allowing a womanly touch to be placed within this brand. This has however been done before as a limited edition so this would be the re-branding and re-launching of this idea.
I found that this could be successful as it could then be like a his and hers matching set which would allow the whole family or couples to both buy into the brand expanding this. This would allow the name of the brand to have a total re-branding giving a feminine touch and aura. This however, would be extremely similar to the likes of Impulse and Sure, Dove and also Right Guard. However, within the industry there is always going to be a competitor in some way. With the brand being so well established and extremely effective in terms of profit this would be realistic for them to carry this process out. This would allow a fun and flirtatious style, which allows women to feel the power that the men can also feel.
This would be very fun and exciting in terms of promotional methods as this could be presented in a very energetic manner targeting a wide audience. I think that this would be very interesting in terms of knowledge on the brand and also acting this out as I would be able to carry this out in any way I like. This would  include promotions such as magazine, billboard, adshels, posters, ads and many more.

Batiste dry shampoo for men
With the Batiste dry shampoo for men idea I found that this could be an eventful and fun packed product which would attract a lot of customers. This would target men of all hair types allowing them to have the same privilege as money being able to get away with washing their hair. This would be extremely positive in terms of advertisements which would be packed with colour and a lot of enthusiasm to try and bring this product off the ground. With all the existing bottles for the brand being feminine based with either floral prints of girly colours this steers away the male consumer. So, with this being so, I found that I could create a whole new range for men with a variety of different bottle patterns focusing on the styles that men like. This colour be the colour blue or prints such as footballs, rugby  balls, footwear etc.
This would also possibly allow a different representation of the brand to be reinforced giving the males an option. This would be tested initially to see whether this would be a beneficial product and not just a waste of money. In terms of promotion, I found this would be successful at the likes of festivals and could be a sponsorship for this factor. This would also feature in magazines, online, posters and within adshels on also be a main feature on social media. This could be a great success is done correctly.

An apple watch
The initial idea for this came when I seen the advertisement for the galaxy watch that has just been released. I found this to be extremely beneficial to the sporting world and could be a great success in terms of profit. This idea would be a practical set up for all sports and even non sports related people. This would be branded by Apple seeing as I found this was the next most realistic brand that are likely to introduce this product. This could either be a leisurewear item or just a sports equipped wear but I found this would be extremely popular and highly demanded with the Apple name being so recognizable. This would be completely digital based and all the information would be added through iTunes just like the phone is. This would include feature such as; time, the weather, a camera, music, the internet, emails and also links to a personal health page which would record all forms of fitness automatically acting as a diary. This would be an easily and more lightweight/practical product to use for all customs.
With Apple having the budget to do so, they could try this by only making this a limited edition product and If this proves to be a success then they could make more of these. This would also have a contact list and act as replacement to your phone whilst wondering around. This would require no baggage and I personally believe this would draw in a new consumer to the brand. This would be easily worn around the wrist with a waterproof strap for hygiene use.
In terms of promotion and advertisements this would be promoted through the store, on the existing apple website, outside the store on a plaque, on adshels, billboards and also through the use of social media to draw attention to this new product that has been released.

Missguided pop up stall
Missguided has become a highly demanded store by most girls with the brand name becoming more recognizable each year. This has allowed the pricing of the items to increase within the online based store due to their not being a static store. This means that the consumer will pay for delivery and are willing to pay extra to ensure that their product arrives on time. With misguided only being available online this is where the drive for this idea came from. The misguided stall would act as an experminent for a static store to be positioned in the busy shopping cities. This would allow the brand to visit the different cities on a timescale visiting different locations for set periods to allow the consumers to make the most of this one off service that they are providing. This would be average size and would spend a few a maximum of a few days or even a week at each location before moving onto the next place. This would also allow consumer to try on the clothing which is one of the biggest downfalls to ordering online. This would then be allow me to judge whether misguided would benefit and make more of a profit if they were to feature a store.
Within the pop up stall you would ne able to browse, try on garments, and also make purchases seeing what will be coming out next with the preview of the next trends and so on. The same student discount would apply. This would also allow the brand to advertise in a completely different way targeting new customers who may not have known of the brand. The use of advertisments for this would feature more outdoor promotions such as adshels, posters, leaflets, magazines and also mail outs, on social media and a tab would be added to the existing site. This would allow a more enjoyable experience for the consumer acting as a test.

Nasty Gal launching in the UK
Nasty Gal is an American based and owned online retailer that specialized in fashion clothing, shoes and accessories for younger aged women. The company and brand name has become popular within over 60 countries and is totally online based which has charges to ship to other countries. On top on this, there is an income tax charge, which means that this adds quite a bit of money onto your order when ordering with Nasty Gal. This however can steer consumers away from this brand, which then means that they go elsewhere. This brand is unique in style and attracts a different target consumer to most brands, which is where I came up with the idea of bringing this brand to the UK.
This idea would work in the same way as ASOS where there would then be a UK based distributer-allowing orders in the UK to be easily processed. This would allow the products to be delivered quicker and easier and also allow the consumer to feel satisfied and also feel as though they can send this back easier than what they could with US based. The website would have a re-brand and other than that all forms of promotion would be able to be completely new. I would look to the like of ASOS and Missguided for inspiration.
In terms of promotion, this would include, website, mail outs, magazine, social media, newsletters.
